Issued: 10th Jul 1950. Perf: 13x12½. Watermark Wz 1 and available on sheets (10x10). Designed by Kreische and issued to commemorate 250 years of the German Academy of Sciences, Berlin. The stamps feature famous scientists.
This stamp features Carl Gustav Adolf von Harnack (7th May 1851 to 10th June 1930), a Baltic German Lutheran theologian and prominent church historian. He produced many religious publications from 1873 to 1912 (in which he is sometimes credited as Adolf Harnack).
